New Blu-ray releases span horror, comedy and a 1950s German classic in HD
Several new films and series have arrived on Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray this month. Major studios have released a mix of horror, comedy, and classic cinema for home viewing.
Among the highlights are a creature-horror film, a dark comedy, and a long-awaited HD premiere of a 1950s German classic.
Paramount Home Entertainment has put out Primate, a creature-horror directed by Johannes Roberts. The film stars Johnny Sequoyah, Jessica Alexander, Troy Kotsur, and Victoria Wyant. It is now available on Blu-ray through Leonine.
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has also released *Send Help*, Sam Raimi’s horror-adventure. The Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray versions include German audio in Dolby Digital Plus 7.1. Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien lead the cast. The complete miniseries *Night Sleeper – Runaways on a Train* is now on sale for home collections. Splendid Film has brought two new titles to HD with softbox packaging. The animated feature *Charlie the Wonder Dog* is now available. They have also released *Viking Therapy*, Anders Thomas Jensen’s dark comedy starring Mads Mikkelsen and Nikolaj Lie Kaas. Additionally, the 1959 German classic *A Woman’s Springtime Dreams* has received its first HD release.
