US solar industry defies political opposition with record expansions in 2025
The US solar industry is pushing ahead with major expansions, despite political opposition. SEG Solar has unveiled plans for a new 4-gigawatt factory, set to open in late 2025. Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump’s repeated attacks on renewable energy have failed to slow the sector’s growth. SEG Solar made waves at the RE+ 2025 exhibition in Las Vegas by launching its new SIERRA N HJT module series. The company also announced a partnership with Kirby Risk to speed up clean energy projects across the US.
The firm’s latest move includes a 4-gigawatt solar module factory, due to start production in the third quarter of 2025. Once operational, the facility will bring SEG’s total US production capacity to around 6 gigawatts per year. In another deal, Erthos signed a licensing agreement with SEG for its Earth Mount Solar platform, further expanding the company’s reach. Texas has become a key battleground for solar growth. Despite resistance from Republican lawmakers, manufacturers are flocking to the state. This surge highlights the industry’s resilience in the face of political challenges. Trump’s long-standing campaign against wind turbines and solar power has had little impact. His attempts to block renewable energy have not stopped the sector from expanding rapidly.
SEG’s new factory and partnerships will boost US solar production by late 2025. The company’s growth reflects a broader trend of renewable energy advancing despite political headwinds. With Texas emerging as a solar hub, the industry shows no signs of slowing down.
