Khabarovsk Krai pays locals for foraged wild greens in new scheme

The Khabarovsk Krai Agricultural Fund has launched a new scheme to buy surplus wild greens from local residents. For the first time, people can now sell ramsons, ferns, and other foraged plants through the programme. Two local businesses will handle the purchases on behalf of the fund. Residents looking to sell their wild greens must first submit an application to the fund or reach out to their district administration. Once approved, they can negotiate directly with the designated operators. These operators will set the volumes and prices for the collected plants.

The two companies managing the purchases are Lazovsky Products and Nekrasovskoye Homestead. Both will act as intermediaries, ensuring smooth transactions between sellers and the fund. While this marks the first time wild greens have been included, the fund has previously run similar schemes for honey and potatoes. The initiative aims to support local foragers while streamlining the collection of seasonal produce. By working with established operators, the fund hopes to create a reliable market for surplus wild greens in the region.

The programme provides a structured way for residents to sell their foraged goods. With two operators already in place, the fund expects a steady supply of wild greens this season. Applications are now open for those wishing to participate.
