Enzo the spectacled bear cub takes his first outdoor steps in Berlin

Berlin (dpa/bb) — Enzo, the spectacled bear cub born in January at Berlin's Tierpark, has ventured outside his den for the first time. With wobbly steps, the young bear explored the enclosure alongside his mother, Tinka, the park announced. "Every branch and every scent is a real adventure for him," officials said. The little bear still takes frequent breaks and naps, gathering strength for his next explorations.

Visitors to the Tierpark may now catch a glimpse of Enzo on his outdoor excursions—with a bit of luck and good weather.

Enzo was one of two spectacled bear cubs born on February 16; his twin did not survive. According to the zoo, this was the first cub birth since 2017. Native to the Andes in South America, the species is listed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
