Habarovsk launches 271M-ruble overhaul of Sheronov Street under Putin's initiative

AmurMedia, April 22. A major overhaul of Sheronov Street is underway in the regional capital, spanning the section from Volochayevskaya to Lenin Street as part of the Infrastructure for Life national project, initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The day before, Habarovsk Mayor Sergei Kravchuk inspected the start of construction and tasked contractors with paying special attention to the quality of the tram crossings.

The reconstruction of Sheronov Street is valued at over 271 million rubles. The contractor, Dorremstroy LLC, is currently carrying out demolition work and preparing the roadbed.

Particular focus during the inspection was placed on the technology used for the tram crossings. At the intersections with Lenin and Blukher streets, reinforced concrete slabs will be installed to enhance durability in high-traffic areas.

"This is a complex project. We must consider the needs of both drivers and electric transport passengers," said Kravchuk. "I have instructed the contractor to strictly adhere to precise leveling—every millimeter counts. The slabs and asphalt must align perfectly to ensure smooth traffic flow and extend the road's lifespan."

Special attention has also been given to traffic management during the repairs. To avoid disrupting tram services, two temporary turnarounds have been installed near the Dendrarium and Lenin Street. The section currently operates with reversible lanes: trams take turns using a single track, coordinated by dispatch services.

City authorities urge drivers to plan their routes in advance and to be patient with the temporary inconveniences caused by the transportation infrastructure upgrades.
