Authorities attribute most crashes to vehicles unprepared for winter conditions and drivers exceeding safe speeds.

According to the regional traffic police, many motorists are still using summer tires, which lack the traction needed for snow and ice, significantly increasing the risk of collisions.

The agency urges drivers to handle their vehicles with extra caution in poor weather—smooth acceleration, gradual braking, and avoiding sudden maneuvers.

Drivers are also advised to inspect their vehicles' roadworthiness, switch to winter tires, and maintain a safe following distance. Speed adjustments and increased spacing from other vehicles are critical.

Officials emphasize that ignoring safety rules can have severe—even fatal—consequences for road users.

Earlier, witnesses captured footage of a bus stranded in a ditch along the Arzamas highway.
