Zella/Rhön Music Association celebrates 75 years with a festive weekend in 2026
The Zella/Rhön Music Association will mark its 75th anniversary in June 2026. Founded in 1951 by Pastor Meilinger as a modest brass ensemble, the group has since grown into a local tradition. Two days of celebrations will bring together musicians, former members, and the community for performances, food, and entertainment. The festivities kick off on Saturday, June 13, 2026, with a solemn Mass followed by a concert from the Zella/Rhön Music Association itself. Later that evening, DJ Schnepfe will take over, providing music for the evening event. Food stalls will offer grilled specialties and drinks throughout the day.
On Sunday, June 14, 2026, guest musicians take the stage. The Motzlar Music Association will perform first, followed by the Elter/Rhön Traditional Costume Band. This group, crowned 2017 European Champions of Bohemian-Moravian brass music, will close the celebrations with a grand finale. A cake buffet with coffee will also be available for attendees. The association, now with 20 active members, has long been a fixture at local events. Over the years, its repertoire has expanded to include dance music, parade accompaniments, carnival performances, birthday serenades, and family celebrations. Former members are especially encouraged to join the anniversary festivities.
The anniversary weekend will showcase the association’s musical legacy and community spirit. Performances from guest bands, a mix of live and DJ music, and a variety of food and drink options will run across both days. The event aims to honour the past while celebrating the group’s ongoing role in Zella/Rhön.
