Yakutia's New Project Brings Art and Live Performances to Elderly Care Home

A Heartwarming Initiative by the Youth Council of the Republic's Culture Workers' Union Brings Joy to Care Home Residents

As part of the large-scale campaign "105 Initiatives for the Trade Union," young activists from the Youth Council of the Republican Committee of the Culture Workers' Union launched the social project "The Warmth of Creativity," aimed at supporting the elderly and people with disabilities.

The project's core mission goes beyond simply organizing leisure activities—it seeks to create opportunities for creative self-expression among older generations. Led by Varvara Gavrilievna Mikhailovna, deputy chair of the Sakha (Yakutia) Republican Branch of the All-Union Trade Union of Culture Workers, activists from the Youth Council arranged an unforgettable celebration for residents of the V.P. Reshetnikova Republican Care Home for the Elderly and Disabled.

A highlight of the event was a charity concert organized by the Youth Council of the Republic's Culture Trade Union, featuring union activists and talented artists: - Irina Kornilova, Dmitry Khalylev, Eduard Vasilyev – performers from the Mafa and Sergei Rastorguyev State Circus of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) - Leonid Gotovtsev, Naina Karavaeva – artists from the D.K. Sivtsev State Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) - Suorun Omollon - Natalya Koryakina – librarian at the N.D. Neustroyev SMART Library - Saina Nestereva – employee of the Sakha National Broadcasting Company

Special emphasis was placed on fostering creative growth. Gavril Nikutov, an artist from the National Art Museum of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), led an engaging masterclass in linocut printmaking. Participants eagerly embraced the new art form, crafting their own original works.

The event's warm and welcoming atmosphere moved everyone present. The audience greeted each performance with thunderous applause, while masterclass attendees approached their creations with care and enthusiasm. As the gathering drew to a close, both performers and guests expressed a desire to continue these meaningful interactions.

The Youth Council plans to regularly organize cultural and creative events for residents of the V.P. Reshetnikova Republican Care Home. Engaging in the arts undeniably enhances the emotional well-being of older adults, helping them maintain optimism and an active lifestyle.

Special thanks go to Varvara Aseeva, the care home's cultural organizer, for her invaluable assistance in making the event possible. The "Warmth of Creativity" project stands as a shining example of how art and compassion can bridge generations, bringing joy and inspiration to all involved.
