Wienliebe Festival 2026 celebrates Vienna's culture with free events for all ages
The Wienliebe Festival kicked off on Saturday evening at Rathausplatz, celebrating Vienna’s rich culture and traditions. Running from May 23 to 25, 2026, the event offers free entry and a packed programme for all ages. The festival follows a four-part structure: Viennese culture, cuisine, craftsmanship, and sports. Visitors can enjoy live performances showcasing the city’s young music scene alongside classic Wienerlied. Fifteen local businesses will also demonstrate traditional and modern artisan skills.
Food stalls will serve up Viennese specialities as well as international dishes. For sports fans, interactive activities are available on May 24 and 25 between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The festival opens daily at 11:00 AM, closing at 10:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday, and at 6:00 PM on Monday. During the event, football legends Herbert Prohaska and Hans Krankl received the Golden Medal of Honor from the City of Vienna. Mayor Michael Ludwig highlighted their role in shaping Vienna’s identity, calling them icons of the city’s sporting heritage.
The three-day festival brings together music, food, crafts, and sports in the heart of Vienna. With free admission and extended opening hours, organisers aim to attract locals and tourists alike. The event runs until Monday evening, offering a final chance to experience Vienna’s vibrant culture.
