White Sox trade for Athletics' outfield prospect Junior Perez
The Chicago White Sox have acquired outfielder Junior Perez from the Oakland Athletics. The 24-year-old prospect was traded in exchange for left-handed pitcher Jackson Nove. Perez now joins the White Sox organisation after a brief stint in Oakland’s system. Perez began the 2026 season at Triple-A Las Vegas, where he posted a .210 batting average with a .273 on-base percentage and .384 slugging mark. Over 36 games, he recorded 5 doubles, 2 triples, 5 home runs, and 19 RBI in 154 plate appearances. Despite modest offensive numbers, he is known for his defensive skills, offering strong range and a powerful arm in the outfield.
The Athletics had added Perez to their 40-man roster in November 2025, ranking him as the No. 20 prospect in their system. However, he was designated for assignment on Thursday, clearing the way for the trade. Following the deal, the White Sox optioned him to their Triple-A affiliate in Charlotte. In return, the Athletics received 23-year-old left-hander Jackson Nove, further reshaping their minor-league roster.
Perez now continues his development in the White Sox farm system. His defensive abilities and power potential provide depth for the organisation. Meanwhile, the Athletics gain a young pitcher in Nove as part of the exchange.
