Magadan celebrates graduates as School No. 20 honors 60 years of excellence

Magadan has begun its season of final school bell ceremonies, marking the end of another academic year. Over 500 high school graduates across the region celebrated their achievements last weekend, including students from School No. 20 in Sokol village. School No. 20 held its graduation ceremony last Saturday, attended by Magadan Mayor Larisa Polikanova. She congratulated the graduates on their accomplishments and the start of a new chapter in their lives.

The school has a long history of academic success, producing 100 gold and silver medalists over its 60-plus years. Students regularly take part in competitions and olympiads, often securing top results. Beyond academics, the school is active in community efforts, hosting volunteer groups like *Kind Magicians* and *The Non-Purple Generation*, which support soldiers and local hospitals. In 2023, the school also launched a primary branch of the *Movement of the Firsts*, a youth organisation aimed at fostering leadership and civic engagement. Svetlana Smotrova, the school’s organising teacher, was recently awarded the *For Assistance to the Front* medal for her contributions. Festive events are now underway in schools and concert halls across Magadan, honouring this year’s graduates and their achievements.

The ceremonies mark the end of a successful year for Magadan’s schools, with graduates moving on to new challenges. School No. 20’s long tradition of excellence—both in academics and community service—continues to shape the region’s future leaders.
