White Sox crush Tigers 7-1 for fourth straight win and climb above .500

The Chicago White Sox secured a 7-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Saturday. The win marked their fourth straight, lifting them four games above .500 for the first time since September 2022. The White Sox took an early lead by loading the bases with no outs in the first inning. Edgar Quero, Colson Montgomery, and Andrew Benintendi each added home runs to extend the advantage.

Starting pitcher Anthony Kay allowed just one run on six hits over five innings, earning the win. His strong performance continued a stellar May, where he went 4-0 with a 1.67 ERA across 32 1/3 innings.

Detroit’s Framber Valdez struggled, giving up four runs on six hits in 6 2/3 innings. Wenceel Pérez provided the Tigers’ only run with a solo homer.

In relief, Grant Taylor, Seranthony Dominguez, and Trevor Richards shut down Detroit over the final four innings, permitting just one baserunner.

Before the game, the White Sox placed slugger Munetaka Murakami on the injured list with a Grade 2 hamstring strain. He is expected to miss four to six weeks. The White Sox now hold a 2-0 series lead over the Tigers. Their pitching depth and timely hitting have driven their recent surge. The team will look to maintain momentum in the next matchup.
