VTB's Expert Reveals the Secret to a Resilient Investment Portfolio

Investors should focus on diversification when building a strong portfolio, according to Andrey Yatskov, head of VTB’s brokerage services. Speaking at the bank’s Investor Day in Moscow, he highlighted the importance of spreading risk across different asset classes. His advice came as part of a broader discussion on current market opportunities.

Yatskov stressed that no single asset class guarantees success. Instead, a mix of investments tailored to individual goals, time frames, and risk tolerance works best. He pointed to government bonds—both long-term ruble-denominated and foreign currency-denominated—as reliable options for stability.

Shares in IT and financial companies, along with high-dividend stocks, were also singled out as promising choices. Gold, he noted, remains a key defensive asset in uncertain times. The underlying message was clear: balancing different assets reduces exposure to any single market fluctuation. The event in Moscow brought together investors looking for guidance in a shifting economic landscape. Yatskov’s emphasis on personalisation reinforced that no two portfolios should look exactly alike.

VTB’s recommendations centre on diversification as the foundation of smart investing. By combining bonds, equities, and defensive assets like gold, investors can better manage risk. The approach also ensures portfolios stay aligned with individual financial objectives and market conditions.
