Vladivostok transforms public spaces with inclusive sports and green upgrades by June
Vladivostok has launched a series of upgrades to public spaces across the city. The projects include sports grounds, pedestrian zones, and landscaped areas, all set for completion by June. Deputy Mayor Maksim Akulshin recently reviewed the ongoing work to ensure progress stays on track.
Renovations have already started at the sports ground on Ovchinnikova Street, between buildings 18 and 20. Old equipment is being removed to install a new rubberised surface and modern exercise machines. The updated facility will feature inclusive fitness stations, making it accessible for people with disabilities and residents of all ages.
Within the next two weeks, a second sports zone at 7 Morozova Street will begin similar upgrades. This site will also include a dedicated frame for extreme sports, expanding recreational options for locals. Beyond sports facilities, improvements are underway at several other locations. The boulevard along Ivanovskaya Street (buildings 3–19), the pedestrian area on Kirova Street (buildings 5–9), and the landscaped park at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) are all being refreshed. Morozova Street will also receive comparable enhancements in the coming weeks. As part of the city’s Comfortable Urban Environment programme, a design competition is now open. The contest invites proposals for small architectural features that will boost both functionality and visual appeal in Vladivostok’s public spaces.
The upgrades form part of Vladivostok’s ongoing efforts to improve urban living standards. Once finished, the renovated areas will offer modern, inclusive facilities for exercise, leisure, and community use. All projects are scheduled to wrap up by the end of June.
