Natalia Sergeyeva Dominates Elbrus Extreme Mountain Sports Festival

The 17th International Extreme Mountain Sports Festival has wrapped up in the Elbrus region. Over 200 athletes from Russia, Belarus, and the United States took part in the challenging competitions. The event featured high-stakes races, including a speed ascent of Mount Elbrus as the final test. The festival hosted multiple disciplines, including the fourth stage of the Russian Cup and the 'Victory Cup' for special forces servicemembers. Among the standout performances, Senior Warrant Officer Natalia Sergeyeva claimed silver in the skyrunning 'Vertical Kilometer' event. She also secured second place in the 'Victory Cup' skyrunning competition.

Earlier in 2025, Sergeyeva had already proven her skill by finishing second in a skyrunning event in May. Her achievements in mountaineering earned her the Medal of the Order 'For Merit to the Fatherland,' Second Class, in 2024. The festival’s climax came with the speed ascent of Mount Elbrus, where Sergeyeva ultimately became the women’s champion.

Sergeyeva’s victories mark another high point in her mountaineering career. The festival brought together elite athletes from multiple countries for gruelling high-altitude challenges. The event’s success reinforces its reputation as a premier competition in extreme mountain sports.
