Students race through history in Salute to Victory quest at Ural Academy

A historical quest named Salute to Victory recently took place at the Presidential Academy’s Ural branch. The event brought together students from grades 7 to 10, as well as vocational college pupils, to test their knowledge of history through a series of challenges. Organised by the Movement of the First and the Youth Chamber of the Yekaterinburg City Duma, the competition drew teams eager to navigate a complex, multi-stage game. The quest kicked off with opening remarks from Oleg Gushchin, director of the academy’s Ural branch, alongside student activists Sergei Bespalov and Nikita Rylov. From there, participants faced 27 distinct stages spread across different classrooms, each demanding precise navigation and careful planning. Teams earned points for every completed challenge, while student volunteers guided them to ensure no task was overlooked.

The competition split results into two age groups. In the junior category (grades 7–8), Lyceum No. 1 took first place, followed by *Constellation* in second and Lyceum No. 2 in third. Among seniors (grades 9–10 and college students), the *Impulse* team secured the top spot, with *Spring of ’45* in second and *For Victory!* in third. After the awards, Gushchin commended all participants for their perseverance, teamwork, and deep understanding of their country’s past.

The event highlighted students’ engagement with history through a dynamic, hands-on format. Winners in both age categories received recognition for their efforts, while organisers emphasised the importance of such initiatives in fostering historical awareness. The quest’s success also relied on the coordination of volunteers and the academy’s logistical support.
