UH Baseball Stars Shine with All-Big West Honors and Academic Excellence
University of Hawaiʻi baseball has earned several top honours this season. Three players received All-Big West recognition, with standout performances in pitching and academics. The awards highlight both skill on the field and dedication off it. Junior right-hander Isaiah Magdaleno led the way with a dominant run of form. Over his last three starts, he posted a 0.69 ERA and a 0.31 WHIP, striking out an average of 13.5 batters per nine innings. His achievements also earned him national pitcher of the week honours from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
Tsubasa Tomii joined Magdaleno on the All-Big West first team. The reliever recorded a 1.56 ERA across 25 appearances in his debut UH season. Against Big West opponents, his ERA dropped even further to 1.11.
Hekili Robello, a Hilo High graduate, secured a spot on the All-Big West second team. After transferring from Santa Rosa Junior College, he redshirted last season but maintained a near-perfect 4.0 GPA. He remains on course to complete his bachelor’s degree next year.
Ben Zeigler-Namoa and Tate Shimao also received recognition, earning honorable mentions for the All-Big West team. The awards reflect a strong season for UH baseball, with Magdaleno and Tomii excelling on the mound. Robello’s academic success adds to the programme’s achievements, while Zeigler-Namoa and Shimao contribute to the team’s depth. The honours set a high standard for the coming year.
