Tom Hardy exits Mobland amid on-set tensions and production drama

Tom Hardy will not return for a potential third season of Mobland, the Paramount+ crime drama. The actor played fixer Harry Da Souza in the series, which follows the Harrigan crime family. Reports suggest his exit stems from on-set tensions with key production figures.

Filming for Season 2 wrapped in March, but Hardy’s departure was confirmed only recently. The show, created by Ronan Bennett and starring Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and Paddy Considine, first aired last spring. Hardy’s exit was first reported by Puck, with sources citing clashes on set. The actor has faced similar issues before, including a well-documented dispute with Charlize Theron during Mad Max: Fury Road. This time, tensions reportedly involved executive producer Jez Butterworth and others.

Season 2 of Mobland was co-written by Bennett and Butterworth, who penned all ten episodes. Despite the behind-the-scenes friction, production completed on schedule. Paramount+ has yet to officially greenlight a third season, though industry insiders expect a renewal given the show’s popularity.

Hardy’s character, Harry Da Souza, was a central figure in the series’ first two runs. His absence would mark a significant shift for the crime saga, which revolves around the power struggles of the Harrigan family. With Season 2 already in the can, the focus now turns to whether Mobland will continue without Hardy. The show’s future hinges on Paramount+’s decision, though its strong cast and established fanbase suggest a likely return. If renewed, the third season will need to address Da Souza’s absence—or recast the role entirely.
