Thunder storm back from 15 down to take 2-1 series lead over Spurs

The Oklahoma City Thunder rallied from a 15-point deficit to defeat the San Antonio Spurs 123-108 in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals. The victory gave them a 2-1 lead in the series, with Game 4 set for Sunday at 8 p.m. ET in San Antonio. Officials called a total of 53 fouls, drawing criticism from Thunder star Damian Lillard. The Spurs started strong, with De'Aaron Fox, Victor Wembanyama, and Devin Vassell combining for an early 15-0 run. Wembanyama finished with 24 points, Vassell added 20, and Fox contributed 15 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds. But the Thunder fought back, led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s 26 points and 12 assists—going a perfect 12-for-12 from the free-throw line.

The Thunder’s bench dominated, outscoring the Spurs’ reserves 76-23. Jared McCain led the way with 24 points, while Jaylin Williams added 18. Through three games, Oklahoma City’s bench now holds a massive 183-64 scoring advantage over San Antonio’s. Foul trouble plagued both teams, with the Thunder called for 28 and the Spurs for 25. Lillard later criticised the officiating, calling the game’s physicality inconsistent.

The Thunder now lead the series 2-1, with Game 4 scheduled for Sunday in San Antonio. Their bench production and late-game resilience have been key factors in taking the series lead. Meanwhile, the Spurs will look to bounce back after losing control of a game they once led by 15.
