The image shows a large pile of fishing nets sitting on top of a pier next to a body of water, with boats on the surface of the water. In the background, there are vehicles on the road, buildings, trees, poles, and a sky with clouds. This image is likely related to the news that Singapore has banned fishing nets from the mainland.

Smelt and sculpin fishing season opens with strict new rules

Recreational fishing for smelt and sculpin will open soon on the 'Yansky Liman 1' grounds. The season runs from May 15 to 31, 2023, with strict rules in place for anglers. Each angler can use only one set net during the season. Permits are limited to two per person per day.

The catch limits have been set to manage fish stocks. Anglers may take up to 15 kg of sculpin per permit. For Asian smelt, the limit is 10 kg per permit. The short fishing window lasts just 16 days. Anglers must follow the daily permit and catch restrictions. These rules aim to balance recreational fishing with conservation efforts.
