San Lázaro Oriente station undergoes major upgrades for airport route
Expansion work at San Lázaro Oriente station on Metrobús Line 4 has been underway for about a month. The upgrades aim to improve the Quetzalcóatl route, which connects to Mexico City International Airport. Construction crews and machinery have been active at the site since the project began. Workers have set up temporary barriers and dividers in the outer lanes, restricting vehicle access. Wooden fencing now marks off the construction zone outside the station. Inside, materials like cement, soil, paint cans, scaffolding, and tools are scattered across the area.
Metal structures are being assembled, and supplies are moved at different times throughout the day. Some of the station’s existing signage shows visible wear and damage as remodelling continues. Signs and banners detail the planned upgrades, while traffic warnings urge drivers to slow down to 10 kilometres per hour. Local vendors have noticed the steady presence of workers and equipment since the project started. The improvements are part of broader efforts to enhance the route leading to the airport.
The construction at San Lázaro Oriente station involves structural changes and safety measures. Temporary barriers and reduced speed limits remain in place as work progresses. The upgrades are expected to improve transport links for passengers travelling to and from the airport.
