Sameep Shastri named new BRICS Chamber of Commerce Chairman for 2026–2029 term

Mr. Sameep Shastri has been appointed Chairman of the BRICS Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BRICS CCI) for a three-year term. The decision was made during the 14th Annual General Meeting in New Delhi, where he was elected unanimously. His leadership comes as India strengthens its role as a key voice for the Global South and BRICS nations expand their influence in global economic affairs. Mr. Shastri brings years of experience to his new role, having served as Vice Chairman of BRICS CCI for six years. During this time, he helped grow the Chamber’s presence in international forums and multilateral discussions. His work has included youth leadership programmes, policy dialogues, and strategic partnerships across the BRICS network.

The appointment was confirmed without opposition, reflecting broad support for his vision. In his first remarks, he called it a privilege to lead the organisation at a pivotal moment for India and the BRICS alliance. His priorities include boosting trade, investment, and innovation while fostering entrepreneurship and sustainability among member nations.

A recognised entrepreneur and public leader, Mr. Shastri represents a new generation focused on inclusive growth and global cooperation. Under his guidance, BRICS CCI is set to deepen ties between emerging economies, with a strong emphasis on youth engagement and people-to-people connections. Mr. Shastri’s term runs from April 2026 to March 2029. His leadership is expected to drive stronger economic collaboration within BRICS and beyond. The Chamber will continue its push for trade expansion, technological partnerships, and sustainable development under his direction.
