Regional train derails at Glashütte station in Saxony - Regional train derails in icy Eastern Ore Mountains—no injuries reported

A regional train derailed in the Eastern Ore Mountains amid icy and snowy conditions on Monday morning. Authorities described the incident as a "weather-related derailment."

The accident occurred at Glashütte station, where the train left the tracks entirely. All 25 passengers on board remained unharmed, according to federal police. The line has been closed while investigators work to determine the cause of the derailment.

Federal police reported that the lead car completely jumped the tracks, with the first axle of the second carriage also derailing. At the time of the incident, winter conditions—including ice and snow—were present in the area. The VVO regional transport authority confirmed the derailment was due to the weather.

Train services between Altenberg and Heidenau have been suspended. The affected route is single-track, police said. The transport authority announced on its website that replacement bus services would be provided for stranded passengers.
