MotoGP championship leader Marco Bezzecchi and Luca Marini have each been handed a two-place grid penalty after impeding Marc Márquez during qualifying today.
MotoGP grid reshuffled after penalties for blocking Márquez at COTA
Traffic proved a major issue throughout the Q2 session at COTA, with Márquez seemingly the worst affected, ultimately qualifying in sixth place.
Bezzecchi, who had originally secured second on the grid, will now drop to fourth, promoting Acosta and Bagnaia one position each.
Further down the field, Honda's Luca Marini also received a two-place penalty for the same incident, after apparently slowing on the racing line during a cool-down lap while Márquez, directly behind him, was on a fast lap.
As a result, Marini has been demoted to 11th, moving Aldeguer and Ogura up one spot each.
Ogura and Bastianini were also involved in several close calls, though there have been no updates yet on whether they will face penalties.
