Primorye bans small boats near Sukhodol Bay starting June 1
New rules for small boats in Primorye Territory will come into force in 2026. Before then, a section of water near Sukhodol Bay will close to all small vessels from June 1. The changes follow recent updates to local maritime regulations and ongoing industrial development along the coast. The official navigation season for small boats in Primorye started on April 11. But from June 1, an 800-metre stretch of water near Sukhodol Bay and Ogorodny Cape will be off-limits. The closure is tied to the construction of a metallurgical plant along the southern shore, where heavy machinery and specialised vessels will operate.
The State Inspectorate for Small Vessels has published a map outlining the restricted zone. Meanwhile, broader regulations for boat use across Primorye were finalised in February. These will take effect on September 1, 2026, setting stricter rules for registration, technical inspections, and operator safety.
The updated framework will cover both private boat owners and commercial operators. Authorities have emphasised that compliance will be mandatory for all vessels in the region. The temporary closure near Sukhodol Bay begins in early June, while the full set of new regulations rolls out in 2026. Boat owners and businesses in Primorye must prepare for stricter safety checks and registration requirements. The changes aim to balance industrial activity with safe navigation in the area.
