Nizhny Novgorod hosts youth cross-country championship on May 6
A cross-country athletics championship for schoolchildren will take place on May 6 near Reshetikha. The event is part of the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. Organisers have opened registration for participants.
The Nizhny Novgorod School District Cross-Country Athletics Championship will begin at 12:00 PM with an opening ceremony. Races will be held in the forest area close to the village of Reshetikha. Those wishing to take part can sign up by calling +7 (831) 364-73-46.
The competition follows recent successes by local athletes. Nizhny Novgorod’s representatives won 13 medals at the Open Masters Games Abu Dhabi 2026 earlier this year.
The championship aims to bring together young runners from across the region. Registration remains open for schools and individual participants. The event will mark another highlight in Nizhny Novgorod’s sporting calendar.
