Magadanenergo ramps up defenses ahead of wildfire season
Magadanenergo, part of the RusHydro Group, is stepping up preparations for the summer wildfire season. The company has launched a series of measures to reduce risks and improve response times across its operations.
Inspections are underway to check fire safety compliance at all branches. Special commissions are examining equipment, fuel storage areas, roads, and access routes to ensure they meet safety standards.
The company is also clearing transmission line corridors of trees and shrubs to shield power lines from ground fires. Flammable waste, debris, and oil spills are being removed to cut down on potential fire hazards. To boost readiness, employees are undergoing safety briefings and emergency drills. Automatic fire detection and suppression systems are being tested, along with emergency alerts and evacuation procedures. A stockpile of specialised equipment and materials has been set up for quick deployment if fires break out. Cooperation with local EMERCOM teams and forestry services has also been strengthened to improve coordination during emergencies.
The measures aim to minimise fire risks and ensure a faster response if incidents occur. Magadanenergo’s efforts cover prevention, equipment checks, staff training, and collaboration with emergency services. The preparations come ahead of what is typically a high-risk period for wildfires in the region.
