Nigeria's internet subscriptions surge 6.29% as mobile networks dominate access

Nigeria’s internet subscriptions grew by 6.29% between 2024 and 2025. The rise highlights a steady increase in digital connectivity across the country. However, usage remains concentrated in a handful of states with high population and commercial activity. In 2025, the top 10 states by subscriber numbers accounted for 76.41 million active internet connections. This figure represents 51.72% of Nigeria’s total subscriptions, showing a clear concentration in key regions. Anambra state alone saw a 13.50% jump, reaching 4.44 million active users.

Mobile (GSM) operators dominated the market, providing 99.77% of all internet subscriptions in 2025. The data confirms that most Nigerians rely on mobile networks for online access. The overall growth reflects expanding digital adoption, though disparities between states persist.

The 6.29% national increase points to rising internet adoption in Nigeria. With mobile networks supplying nearly all connections, access remains tied to GSM providers. Meanwhile, states like Anambra continue to drive growth, reinforcing the uneven distribution of digital activity.
