Nigeria Customs' Tin Can Port hits record N1.6 trillion revenue under Onyeka

The Nigeria Customs Service Tin Can Island Port Command has reported strong financial performance under outgoing leader Frank Onyeka. His tenure saw record revenue collection and major anti-smuggling successes. Onyeka has now been promoted to Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs after officially handing over command duties. In 2025, the command generated N1.60 trillion in revenue, surpassing its annual target of N1.524 trillion. This followed a first-half total of N747.07 billion, marking a 29.85% increase compared to the same period in 2024. The upward trend continued into 2026, with N401.01 billion collected in the first quarter alone.

Under Onyeka’s leadership, the command also intensified anti-smuggling operations. Seizures during his time in charge exceeded N35 billion in value. Beyond enforcement, he prioritised staff training and collaboration with port stakeholders to boost efficiency and compliance. Onyeka’s promotion comes as the command maintains its strong financial trajectory. The N401.01 billion collected in early 2026 builds on the previous year’s record-breaking performance. His successor will now take charge of a command that has consistently exceeded revenue targets and strengthened operational controls.
