New Study Probes AI's Economic Impact on Russian Industry

A new partnership has formed to study the economic impact of AI in Russian industry. Sber’s AI subsidiary, Salute for Business, and Strategy Partners announced the collaboration at the Digital Industry of Industrial Russia (CIPR-2026) conference. The focus will be on how companies measure returns from AI investments under local conditions. The joint study will investigate how Russian industrial firms assess economic efficiency when deploying AI agents. It will explore existing and emerging methods, including custom ROI formulas and practical evaluation techniques. A key issue under scrutiny is the lack of transparency in calculating AI’s financial returns within the country’s business environment.

Over 90% of Russian companies have struggled to gain consistent economic benefits from AI adoption. The partnership aims to address this by analysing real-world applications of generative AI in industry. The final output will be a detailed analytical review, offering clearer insights into effective ROI assessment methods. The findings are expected to help close the methodological gap in AI adoption for Russian enterprises. By providing a structured review of current practices, the study may guide firms in improving their economic outcomes from AI investments. The results will be shared following the completion of the research.
