There are bags and other objects scattered around the field, and in the background there are buildings, trees, light poles, and a clear blue sky. It appears to be a celebration of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019, with the players celebrating their victory.

Mumbai Indians sign Lomror and Ahir to cover key injuries late in season

Mumbai Indians have made two new signings after injuries sidelined key players. The team, currently ninth in the points table, has brought in Mahipal Lomror and Ruchit Ahir as replacements. Both moves come as the franchise adjusts to setbacks in their campaign. Quinton de Kock’s absence forced Mumbai Indians to seek a replacement. The wicketkeeper-batter suffered a tendon injury to his left wrist before their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 29. In response, the team signed Mahipal Lomror for Rs 50 lakh. The 24-year-old has featured in 40 IPL matches, having previously played for Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Another injury struck when Raj Angad Bawa tore a ligament in his right thumb during a game against Punjab Kings on May 14. To fill the gap, Mumbai Indians recruited Ruchit Ahir for Rs 30 lakh. The all-rounder has experience in 16 List A and 12 T20 matches.

These changes arrive too late to alter Mumbai’s season. With eight points from 12 games, the five-time champions have already missed out on the playoffs. The new signings add depth to a struggling Mumbai Indians side. Lomror and Ahir will now look to prove themselves in the remaining fixtures. Meanwhile, the team’s focus shifts to rebuilding for next year’s competition.
