MSU-BIT Launches AI and FinTech Lab Ahead of 10th Anniversary

The MSU-BIT university in Shenzhen has opened a new Laboratory of Financial Technologies and Innovation. This comes as the institution prepares to mark its 10th anniversary in autumn 2026. The lab will focus on how artificial intelligence is reshaping the economy and traditional finance. The university, a joint project between the Shenzhen municipal government, Beijing Institute of Technology, and Moscow State University, first welcomed students in September 2017. Enrolment is now set to reach 5,000 this year. As part of its expansion, the new lab will operate under the MSU-BIT Center for Experimental Economics and Management, joining three other existing research facilities.

Researchers will examine the effects of blockchain, big data, and AI on financial systems. The lab also aims to tackle challenges created by the fast-growing digital economy. Students will gain access to Wind, China’s top financial data platform, to support their studies.

In May 2023, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko visited the university, highlighting its international collaboration. The laboratory’s launch strengthens MSU-BIT’s role in financial technology research. It provides students with advanced tools like Wind while addressing key issues in digital finance. The university continues to grow as it approaches its 10-year milestone.
