Meow Wolf's L.A. Attraction Unveils WoWoW, a Cosmic Alien God
A giant, otherworldly creature named WoWoW will take centre stage at Meow Wolf’s newest attraction in Los Angeles. The installation, set inside a former Cinemark theatre in West L.A., promises to explore Hollywood’s dream factory while weaving a cosmic narrative. Slated to open later this year, it marks the fifth outpost for the immersive art collective.
WoWoW, a towering 20-foot-tall, 1,000-pound amoeba-like figure, has been described as both a cosmic entity and a cartoonish, floating alien god resembling a root vegetable. The creature will anchor The N.E.S.T., a 553-square-foot space designed to tell the entire story of the universe—and the mythical Noothies—within its walls. This section of the exhibition is the work of Everything Is Terrible, a long-time Meow Wolf collaborator known for its found-footage art and viral videos.
The collective, founded nearly two decades ago, has partnered with Meow Wolf for over ten years. Their latest project will feature contributions from 45 local artists, including Gabriela Ruiz and David Altmejd. Before the official opening, both Meow Wolf and Everything Is Terrible will join the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Art Parade on June 20. This L.A. location follows Meow Wolf’s existing venues in Denver, Las Vegas, Houston, and the Dallas suburbs. Each outpost offers a distinct, large-scale immersive experience, blending art, storytelling, and interactive design.
The new installation will transform a disused movie theatre into a surreal exploration of Hollywood and cosmic mythology. With WoWoW as its focal point, the attraction aims to draw visitors into a strange, dreamlike world. The project’s debut later this year will add another chapter to Meow Wolf’s expanding network of immersive art spaces.
