Lia Block, talented racing offspring, continues her father Ken Block's heritage: She shines in the latest Netflix series F1 Academy, two years following her father's unfortunate demise in a snowmobile accident.

In the world of motorsport, Lia Block, the 18-year-old daughter of legendary rally driver Ken Block, is making her mark as she charts her own path in the competitive realm of automobile racing. Having appeared recently in Netflix's F1: The Academy, Lia is undoubtedly following in her father's tire tracks.

Ken Block, a globally recognized figure in the world of action sports, was known for his exhilarating driving style and stunts, which drew millions of viewers to his YouTube channels and honored a successful career in professional rallying. Tragically, in November 2023, Ken lost his life in a snowmobile accident in Utah, leaving Lia heartbroken at just 16 years old. In her emotion-laden tribute, Lia mourned the loss of not just her father, but her trusted guide and confidant, whom she had lovingly referred to as her 'whole world' and 'best friend.'

Despite this devastating setback, Lia has risen above adversity, demonstrating remarkable resilience and determination to continue her passion for motorsports. At just 17, she became the youngest American Rally Association Champion, and has now traded in the world of off-road racing for the challenge of single-seater cars with Williams.

The Netflix series provides insights into Lia's unique relationship with her father, now that she's carving out a niche in the motorsport industry he once dominated. While she acknowledges the pressures of social media, Lia expresses her desire to simply be a race-car driver, just like her father. Speaking in the first episode of F1 Academy, she shares, "My dad was a race-car driver as well in Rallycross. I understand now why he found it so tiring."

As the youngest member of Williams' F1 Academy, Lia joins the series along with Susie Wolff, a former professional driver and managing director of F1 Academy. The show promises to help young women break barriers in a sport often dominated by men, acknowledging the significance of its all-female participants in the motorsport landscape.

It all started for Lia when she showed interest in racing at around 11 years old, following in her father's footsteps. Having traveled the world alongside her father, Ken Block, the founder of Hoonigan racing team and a popular figure in motorsport, Lia found her calling in the thrilling world of rally driving. She went from strength to strength in her pursuits, later turning her attention to single-seater cars.

Recently, Lia expressed her heartfelt sentiments in an Instagram post honoring her father, grieving the loss of the man who was her inspiration and mentor. "My dad was truly my whole world and the only person I ever looked up to," she wrote. "No matter what I did he was always there to support me. I can't believe how fast he was taken from all of us. No words can describe of how much of an amazing human my dad was, he lived so many lives, accomplished more in 55 years than most people could in 10 lifetimes, and lived his life to the absolute fullest every single day."

Despite the absence of her father, who she tragically lost in a snowmobile accident, Lia continues to post photographs in his memory, cherishing the bond they shared through their shared love for motorsports.

Moving forward, Lia's motorsport career continues to flourish, and she is rapidly emerging as a force to be reckoned with in the world of racing.
