Bus Accident in Karaganda Region Amid Blizzard Conditions
Kazakhstan Bus Skids Off Icy Road in Blizzard—All 50 Passengers Safe
A passenger bus carrying 50 people veered off the road in Karaganda Region due to a blizzard, with no reported injuries, according to our website.
The Karaganda Regional Police Department reported that on January 12, as the bus was leaving the city of Shakhtinsk, the driver lost control in severe weather conditions. Heavy snowfall and black ice caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.
"Around 50 passengers were on board the bus. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, and there were no fatalities," the department told our editorial team in response to an inquiry.
Police reminded the public that hazardous weather—including blizzards, gusty winds, and icy roads—persists across the region. Drivers are urged to strictly observe speed limits, maintain a safe following distance, avoid abrupt maneuvers, and, when possible, refrain from long-distance travel.
Law enforcement officials emphasized that road safety depends directly on the responsibility of all road users.
Earlier reports indicated that two people died in Pavlodar Region when a KamAZ truck overturned into a ditch.
