March 29, 2026, 14:16

Final match ends in decisive victory for Kazakh player in straight sets—6:1, 6:3

Kazakh tennis player Zhibek Kulambayeva has claimed outright victory at the ITF W15 tournament in Nagpur, India. After securing the doubles title earlier in the week, Kulambayeva added the singles trophy to her haul, leaving no chance for her opponents on Indian courts, reports our website, citing the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation (KTF).

In the championship match, Kulambayeva (WTA No. 419) faced local player Sonal Patil (WTA No. 1,159). From the opening minutes, Kulambayeva seized control, demonstrating total dominance. The final ended in a commanding straight-sets win for the Kazakh athlete—6:1, 6:3.

This double triumph in Nagpur holds special significance: the victories in both singles and doubles mark Kulambayeva's first titles of the season following her recovery from a previous injury. Throughout the tournament, she showcased her class, delivering strong physical form and mental resilience.

A reminder that on April 10–11, Kulambayeva will represent Kazakhstan's national team in the Billie Jean King Cup qualifying round. In Astana, the team will face off against Canada for a spot in the world team championship.
