Krasnodar Krai bridge shuts as storms flood Shebsh River and trap drivers

A bridge over the Shebsh River in Grigoryevskaya, Seversky District, has been temporarily closed due to rising water levels. The restrictions began after water started overflowing the structure at 1:40 PM on May 31, as severe thunderstorms continue to batter Krasnodar Krai. The closure follows heavy rainfall that caused the river to swell rapidly. Authorities deployed heavy machinery to remove driftwood and debris blocking the bridge spans. Traffic police officers and a municipal emergency rescue team are now on site to manage the situation.

All road patrol units have been activated to assist stranded motorists. The storm warning for the region remains in place, with hail and wind gusts reaching 25 metres per second. Officials have extended the alert until the morning of June 2 as conditions show no immediate signs of improvement.

The bridge will stay closed until water levels drop and debris is fully cleared. Emergency crews are working to restore safe passage, while motorists are advised to seek alternative routes. The storm system continues to affect travel and safety across Krasnodar Krai.
