Kazakhstan's high-tech plant builds custom Iveco trucks for cities and mines
A specialised vehicle plant in Astana has been assembling Iveco-branded trucks since 2008. Operated by Stalbau, the facility produces garbage trucks, street-cleaning machines, and heavy-duty equipment for cities and mines across Kazakhstan. The plant started operations as the official Kazakh representative of Iveco. Using complete knock-down (CKD) kits, workers begin assembly from a bare chassis. Each vehicle is tailored to meet specific customer needs and local operating conditions.
Advanced technology plays a key role in production. The workshops feature laser cutting machines, a 400-ton metal press, and automated welding stations. A dedicated design team employs AI-assisted digital modelling to speed up development. What once took one to two years now requires just one to two months. The facility manufactures between 50 and 100 units annually, including dump trucks, bulldozers, and municipal service vehicles. All products come with a one-year warranty. Many are already in use in Almaty, Semey, Aktau, and at the Aktogay mine.
The Astana plant combines CKD assembly with digital innovation to deliver customised vehicles. Its output supports urban infrastructure and industrial projects across Kazakhstan. Each machine undergoes precise engineering before reaching its final destination.
