Kane County Cougars' team bus torched in Winnipeg stadium arson attack
A charter bus belonging to the Kane County Cougars was deliberately set on fire at Blue Cross Stadium in Winnipeg. The incident occurred while the team was visiting for a three-game series against the Winnipeg Goldeyes. No injuries were reported The fire broke out at the stadium, where the Cougars and Goldeyes—both teams in the American Association of Professional Baseball—were competing. Authorities later took two teenagers into custody in connection with the blaze. A 15-year-old girl now faces arson charges.
The destroyed motorcoach, valued at $425,000, belonged to Windstar Lines. The company is arranging a replacement bus to transport the Cougars to their next games in Fargo this weekend. Meanwhile, the Winnipeg Goldeyes have secured another bus to ensure the team can return to the United States after the series. All equipment and belongings inside the bus were lost in the fire. The Cougars will continue their schedule as planned despite the disruption.
