Kaltennordheim's 462nd Rhön Wedding Market Kicks Off with Love and Tradition
The 462nd Rhön Wedding Market in Kaltennordheim officially began on Saturday, May 25. The event, which runs until May 26, drew visitors from across the region for a weekend of celebration. Festivities included live music, a fairground, and a special ceremony for newlyweds. The opening day started with Stefan Bohn and Peggy Hillger exchanging vows in the newly opened registry office at the castle. Their wedding marked the first of the event, followed by a reception in a festive tent. There, the couple cut a cake made by local baker Markus Neubauer.
The Schad family, who run the fairground, congratulated the newlyweds and presented them with a gift. Meanwhile, the Kaltennordheimer Spatzen band played lively tunes, keeping the atmosphere cheerful. A kindergarten group called Wilde Pferde, led by Katja Schramm, also performed, adding to the festive spirit. Alongside the wedding celebrations, the town honoured volunteers during Volunteer Appreciation Day. Ferdinand Schramm was recognised for his work with the local youth club and received a weekend pass to the Simson motorcycle rally in Walldorf. The opening ceremony itself was filled with music, laughter, and emotional moments. Guests enjoyed the mix of traditions, entertainment, and community spirit that the Wedding Market is known for.
The event continues through May 26, offering visitors more music, fairground attractions, and celebrations. The newlyweds, volunteers, and performers all contributed to a lively start. Organisers expect the festival to remain a highlight for both locals and visitors from the wider region.
