Baden-Baden: Serious Traffic Accident Due to Heavy Snowfall
Heavy snow triggers multi-car crash on Baden-Baden's steep Rotenbachtalstraße
Baden-Baden (ots)
Heavy snowfall on Saturday afternoon caused multiple vehicles to come to a standstill on Rotenbachtalstraße while traveling uphill toward Zähringerstraße, leaving them unable to proceed due to the weather conditions. A 44-year-old BMW driver attempted to pass the stationary line of cars when she encountered a 60-year-old VW driver coming from the opposite direction. Unable to brake in time, the VW driver swerved to avoid a collision and struck a stationary Smart car in the queue. The impact hit the 53-year-old Smart driver, who was standing behind her vehicle at the time, knocking her to the side of the road. She suffered serious injuries in the subsequent fall.
Meanwhile, a 36-year-old driver traveling downhill behind the VW also swerved to avoid the oncoming BMW, skidding off the road and into a ditch.
The 53-year-old Smart driver was rushed to a hospital with severe injuries. The accident caused approximately €6,500 in total damage. Rotenbachtalstraße was temporarily closed in both directions due to the obstructing vehicles.
