West Palatinate Largely Unaffected by Forecasted "Problem Weather"
School bus skids on icy road, narrowly avoids serious damage
West Palatinate (our platform)
The "hazardous weather" predicted for Monday largely spared the West Palatinate region. While some areas saw light snowfall overnight and much of the region experienced light rain in the morning, the feared traffic disruptions failed to materialize.
Within the jurisdiction of the West Palatinate Police Headquarters, only a single weather-related traffic accident was recorded between midnight and late morning. The incident occurred in Relsberg (Kusel district), where a scheduled bus was involved in a collision. According to initial findings, the bus—which also serves school routes—skidded on an icy patch at a narrow section of road in the town center, leaving the driver unable to regain control. The vehicle, carrying only the driver and one young passenger at the time, then struck a house wall at low speed. Fortunately, no one was injured. Both the bus and the wall sustained minor damage, with estimated repair costs running into several thousand euros.
We thank all road users for their cautious and attentive driving! |cri
