Kazakhstan cracks down on food price gouging in Atyrau region

In Kazakhstan's Atyrau region, the Commission for Oversight of Intermediary Activity has held 12 meetings since the start of 2026, reports Liter.kz, citing AtyrauPress.kz.

The inspections uncovered 18 wholesale suppliers who had imposed markups exceeding the legally permitted 15% on socially essential food products. Fines were levied against them in accordance with the law, and oversight measures were tightened.

"Our monitoring team regularly conducts outreach with businesses to ensure compliance with legal requirements and to foster greater accountability," said Nurdaulet Zhumasitov, acting head of the regional Department of Entrepreneurship and Industry.
