Halle-Neustadt's Free Block Party Unites Generations on May 8

For weeks, speculation has swirled in Halle-Neustadt: Where will the next block party take place? Now it's official—the neighborhood festival will move to the Pusteblume Multigenerational Center (MGH) on May 8, from 2 to 7 p.m. A block party is a vibrant, hands-on celebration shaped by local participants, open to anyone eager for connection and new experiences.

This marks the eighth time that Freiraumgalerie, Wall & Space e.V., and numerous local partners have hosted the event, solidifying its place as a staple in Halle-Neustadt's cultural calendar. After much anticipation about this year's location, the decision is in: the block party will take over the Pusteblume Multigenerational Center, run by AWO SPI.

Multigenerational centers serve as vital "third places" where neighbors of all ages come together. They provide space to pursue existing passions while discovering new skills. Venues like Pusteblume foster connection, build trust, and strengthen social cohesion. To raise the center's profile and introduce more people to its diverse offerings, the 8th Block Party—organized by Freiraumgalerie and Wall & Space e.V.—will unfold there. Collaborating with local partners, the event promises a rich program: an open afternoon for children, families, curious visitors, and neighbors alike. The block party is all about encounter, creativity, and shared experiences, bringing together people who might not cross paths in daily life. No admission fee, no registration required—everyone is welcome.

Highlights include a plant swap, live music by Kinderliederbande, a ceramic workshop, a painting vending machine, and a multilingual children's storytime. The lineup also features Science2Public's debate box, a book origami workshop by Halle City Library, calligraphy with the Islamic Cultural Center Halle/Saale, and a first look at UnserHaneu—the new district and event platform for Halle-Neustadt, launching its website *www.unser-haneu.de at the party. Rounding out the program are sports, games, creative activities, and digital, interactive offerings as part of the Smart City Halle (Saale)* pilot project.

The event is open to all—whether you want to jump in and participate or simply soak up the atmosphere.
