Anapa races to restore beaches before summer tourist season begins

Authorities in Krasnodar Krai have stepped up efforts to restore Anapa’s beaches ahead of the tourist season. Governor Veniamin Kondratyev ordered stricter oversight during a recent emergency commission meeting. The move comes as worsening weather threatens to wash away newly delivered sand along the coastline. Work began on April 22 to replenish the beaches, with operations running 24 hours a day. So far, over 20,000 cubic meters of sand have been spread across 900 meters, from Central Beach to the Anapka River. The project aims to cover four designated sections with at least 50 centimetres of clean sand.

As of April 30, the operation involved 56 dump trucks and 13 engineering vehicles. To speed up deliveries, a third access route will soon open. Meanwhile, laboratories are testing the sand’s quality to ensure it matches the natural composition of Anapa’s shores. The push follows concerns that rough weather could cause flooding or wash the sand out to sea. Officials now expect the work to finish before the start of the tourist season.

The beach restoration in Anapa remains on track despite weather challenges. Stricter oversight and round-the-clock deliveries aim to complete the project in time for visitors. Once finished, the reinforced coastline will feature a thick, tested layer of sand across key sections.
