Giants' Harbaugh hire overshadowed by ex-players' UFC 328 reunion
The New York Giants have named John Harbaugh as their new head coach. Meanwhile, two former Giants players, Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo, made headlines at UFC 328 in Newark after reuniting in an unexpected way.
The pair briefly brought excitement to the team during the 2022 season before injuries and setbacks cut their campaigns short. Dart and Skattebo were standout performers for the Giants in 2022. Dart, a dual-threat quarterback, threw for 2,272 yards and 15 touchdowns while adding nine rushing scores. Skattebo, a powerful running back, managed five rushing touchdowns in just eight games before suffering a dislocated ankle in Week 8.
Dart himself missed two games that season due to a concussion. Despite their limited time together, the duo became known for a celebratory head-butt move, which they later recreated at UFC 328.
Their reunion came as Sean Strickland defeated Khamzat Chimaev to claim the middleweight title. The event took place in Newark, just miles from the Giants’ training facility in East Rutherford. The team is now preparing for rookie minicamp, with organised team activities (OTAs) set to begin on May 19. Harbaugh takes over a Giants squad looking to rebuild after a tough 2022. Dart and Skattebo’s brief but memorable stint remains a bright spot from that season. Their recent reunion at UFC 328 has reignited interest in their time with the team.
