Galgotias University brings Goa's vibrant heritage to life in Statehood Day gala

Galgotias University hosted a vibrant celebration for Goa Statehood Day, blending tradition with creativity. The event showcased the state’s unique cultural mix through music, dance, and storytelling. Students played a key role in organising and performing throughout the evening. The celebration kicked off with a traditional Khordu welcome, a ceremonial gesture reflecting Goan hospitality. Attendees, including former Chief Secretary of Goa Mr. Sanjay Kumar Srivastava and his wife, were greeted warmly as the auditorium filled with energy.

The programme featured a mix of performances—musical acts, theatre, and dance—drawing from both Goan and contemporary influences. Students took charge of scripting, editing, and stage coordination, ensuring a seamless flow of events. Laughter, movement, and audience participation kept the atmosphere lively. Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, CEO of Galgotias University, spoke about Goa’s rich cultural and historical identity. A documentary tracing the state’s journey—from early references to its official statehood—was also presented, offering deeper insights into its past.

By the end of the evening, attendees left with a stronger appreciation of Goa’s heritage. The performances and storytelling highlighted the state’s blend of Indian and Portuguese influences. The event successfully celebrated Goa’s history while engaging the audience in its traditions.
