Evin Lewis and Jayden Seales shine in West Indies Championship final
The West Indies Championship final saw two standout performances from Trinidad and Tobago’s players. Evin Lewis struck a century in the second innings, his first in over ten years. Meanwhile, Jayden Seales shone with both bat and ball, guiding his team to a strong position against Guyana. Evin Lewis delivered a crucial 122 in the second innings, marking only his second first-class hundred. His previous century came over a decade ago, shortly after his red-ball debut for Trinidad and Tobago in 2012. Despite his limited first-class opportunities, Lewis remains a dominant force in white-ball cricket, boasting a T20I strike rate of 152.07 and five ODI hundreds.
Jayden Seales also played a key role, scoring an unbeaten 70 in the first innings. His contribution with the ball was equally impressive, taking 4-56 to dismantle Guyana’s batting line-up. By the fourth day, Guyana faced a challenging target of 280 runs to win the title. Lewis, who made his international debut in 2016, recently featured for the West Indies in a series against Afghanistan. However, his red-ball career has remained limited, with just 27 first-class matches since his debut.
The final showcased Lewis’ ability to perform under pressure, reinforcing his reputation as a reliable batsman. Seales’ all-round effort further strengthened Trinidad and Tobago’s push for victory. Guyana now face an uphill battle to chase down 280 runs on the final day.
