England Lions trail South Africa A by 27 runs in Arundel Test

England Lions and South Africa A are facing off in the first unofficial Test at Arundel. After winning the toss, the Lions chose to bat first but struggled in both innings. South Africa A now hold a 27-run lead by the close of play. England Lions began the match by electing to bat after winning the toss. Their first innings ended poorly, with the team all out for just 157. Jason Smith and Nqobani Mokoena did the damage for South Africa A, taking 4-15 and 3-38 respectively.

In response, South Africa A managed 154, with Mitch Stanley’s 3-46 helping restrict their total. Marques Ackerman, captaining the side, remained unbeaten on 79, anchoring the innings.

The Lions fared little better in their second innings, stumbling to 111-8. Ekansh Singh was their top scorer with 25 runs. By the end of the day, South Africa A held a narrow but crucial lead of 27 runs. The match continues with South Africa A in a slightly stronger position. Following this Test, the two teams will play three unofficial ODIs between June 5 and 9. Dan Mousely remains in charge of the England Lions for the series.
