Dubai slashes tourism costs with $400M boost amid regional tensions

Dubai has rolled out a major tourism support programme to draw in visitors during a period of regional instability. The government has removed several fees, slashed hotel rates, and allocated millions to revive the sector. These changes are set to ease the financial burden on travellers. The UAE government has injected $400 million into Dubai’s tourism industry to boost visitor numbers. As part of the push, authorities have scrapped the 7% municipal fee previously added to hotel and restaurant bills. This move alone will noticeably reduce costs for diners and holidaymakers.

Hotels across the city have already begun lowering their rates in response to low occupancy. On top of this, the temporary removal of the luxury hotel stay tax will further lighten the load on tourists’ budgets. Vacation home rentals will also see fee reductions, while businesses rescheduling or cancelling events will no longer face penalties.

Industry experts, including Russia’s Association of Tour Operators, predict that these measures will push prices down even more this summer. The combination of tax cuts and discounted rates creates a rare opportunity for travellers seeking affordability. The changes come at a time when regional tensions remain high, so visitors are advised to stay updated on the political situation. With lower taxes, reduced hotel costs, and financial backing from the government, Dubai is positioning itself as a more accessible destination. Travellers willing to navigate the risks may find this an ideal moment to explore the city.
